Amapiano sensation Scotts Maphuma has reportedly been arrested in Mozambique, where he was slated to perform over the weekend. The sudden news has left fans in disbelief and fueled speculation across social media platforms.
On Monday, 2 June, popular South African celebrity blog Maphepha Ndaba broke the story by posting a video on Instagram. The clip shows a man dressed similarly to Scotts Maphuma being led away by individuals believed to be Mozambican authorities.
The blog captioned the video with a claim from a “reliable source” in Mozambique who alleged that the amapiano artist had been arrested shortly after arriving in the country for a scheduled performance.

“Scott has been (allegedly) arrested here in Mozambique,” the blog stated. “This comes after he was booked to perform there. Details of the arrest are still sketchy.”
Despite the bold claims, no official statement has been released by local authorities in Mozambique, and Maphuma’s management team has remained silent on the matter as of this writing.
As expected, the video quickly went viral, igniting a wave of reactions from fans and followers on social media. Many South Africans expressed shock and concern for the artist’s wellbeing. Others were more skeptical, questioning the authenticity of the video and the reliability of the source.
