About 300 000 school support staff wait to be paid

Thousands of temporary educators and school assistants hired during December have not been paid.

As part of the Presidential Employment Stimulus Programme, Basic Education hired close to 300,000 staff to support teachers and help schools comply with Covid-19 protocols.

The department says those who haven’t been paid will receive double salaries this month.

DJ Fresh and DJ Euphonik on Saturday were taken off air on music station 947. The pair reached an agreement with Primedia Broadcasting that they would step down from their roles with immediate effect after rape cases were opened against the two.
