SA COVID-19: Northern Cape sees rise in school cases

There’s been an increase in positive coronavirus cases in schools in the Northern Cape. That’s according to the province’s Education MEC Zolile Monakali.

He says while COVID-19 safety measures are being followed at school, at home it’s a different story.

The province has recorded 264 positive COVID-19 cases in the past week alone.

This has led to the disruptive opening and then closing of schools.

Since 1 May 2021, 79 schools have been closed to allow for disinfection and the immediate isolation of appropriately identified staff and learners.
