Gauteng: At 17H28 Wednesday afternoon, Netcare 911 responded to a collision on Marina Street in Nietgedacht Johannesburg.
Reports from the scene indicate that a school kombi and bakkie had been involved in a head-on collision.
On scene was Emer-G-Med, City of Johannesburg Fire and Rescue Services, Fire Ops, SAPS, Gauteng provincial government EMS as well as multiple other services.
Medics assessed the scene and found that the adult male drivers of both vehicles had sustained fatal injuries and were declared deceased on the scene.
Six children from the school transport vehicle had sustained critical injuries and were treated on scene.
Two of the most seriously injured children were airlifted by Netcare 911 helicopter.
Once stabilized, the patients were transported by various ambulance services to the hospital for the specialized care they required.
All relevant authorities were on the scene.
