Sassa Confirms January 2026 Payment Dates
January Disease Cure coming early!! Millions of social grant beneficiaries can breathe a sigh of relief after Sassa confirmed the official grant payment dates for January 2026.
The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) announced that grant payments will begin rolling out in the second week of January 2026, reassuring beneficiaries that there is no need to rush or queue on the first payment day.
According to Sassa, once the money has been paid into a beneficiary’s account, it will remain safe and available until it is withdrawn.
“Beneficiaries are advised not to rush to withdraw their funds on the first day of payment. The money will remain in their accounts and can be accessed at any time,” Sassa said.
The agency also emphasised that there is no risk of funds being lost if beneficiaries choose to withdraw at a later date. Payments can be accessed through Sassa cards, bank accounts, participating retailers, and ATMs nationwide.
January 2026 Grant Payment Dates
Sassa confirmed the following payment schedule for January 2026:
- Old Age Grant: Tuesday, 6 January 2026
- Disability Grant: Wednesday, 7 January 2026
- Child Support Grant and other child-related grants: Thursday, 8 January 2026
Sassa has once again urged beneficiaries to be cautious when collecting their grants, warning against scams, card swapping, and sharing personal details such as PINs. Beneficiaries are encouraged to use trusted payment points and to report any suspicious activity immediately.
The agency also reminded grant recipients that payment dates are spread out deliberately to reduce congestion at pay points and retailers, especially after the busy festive season.
Sassa said further updates and reminders will be communicated through official channels as payment dates approach.
