Two SARS officials agree to step down

Two SARS officials implicated in the Nugent inquiry have agreed to leave the revenue collector with immediate effect.

SARS says it will not proceed with further action against Mmamathe Makhekhe-Mokhuane and Luther Lebelo.

Makhekhe-Mokhuane is said to have failed to update the SARS system when she was head of IT.

Lebelo, who was Group Executive for Employment Relations, was allegedly the right-hand man of then Commissioner Tom Moyane.

He used taxpayers’ money during the inquiry, which was not authorised by SARS.
