SA Lockdown: SANParks staff ready to reopen

SANParks says none of its rangers or other employees have tested positive for COVID-19 Acting head of communications Ray Thakhuli says the game reserve is ready to reopen its parks the moment it is allowed to do so.

“We know that our visitors, our guests in our parks, they miss being in the parks. We also miss them you know we also really miss seeing our visitors in our parks. But we will remain hopeful that quite soon, at whatever level is advised by government, you know we are ready if we are told tomorrow you are open,” he said.

Thakuli says employees are working under safe conditions. We do communicate with our employees in terms of how they can keep themselves safe. We have employees based in various parks, and they are really keeping track of what you call it, social distancing and all that sort of thing, observing all the protocols that are in place.
