Man critically injured in Sandton explosion

At 16H41 Friday afternoon Netcare 911 responded to reports of a shooting at a residential complex on Hobart Road in Bryanston Sandton.

Reports from the scene indicate that an explosion had taken place and not a shooting.

Paramedics assessed the scene and found that an adult male had sustained critical injuries in the explosion due to amputation and extensive burns.

The patient was treated on the scene by an Advanced life support paramedic and once stabilized was transported by ambulance to the hospital for further treatment.

The type of explosion has yet to be determined however the scene has been cordoned off for the SAPS to investigate.
