The Health Department reported 2,237 new COVID-19 infections in South Africa, taking the cumulative number of confirmed cases to 749,182.
The department reported 53 more COVID-19 deaths, most of those occurring in the Eastern Cape.

The province also has the highest number of active cases, followed closely by the Free State.
