I didn’t know then that it was s.e.xual harassment – Actor Dumisani Mbebe speaks out after accusations

The topic of s.e.xual harassment on set has been a hot topic this week following Lithapo actress Lorraine Moropa opening up about being s.e.xually harassed on set by a senior male.

Actor Dumisani Mbebe has been vocal about s.e.xual harassment at the hands of his male peers and in the midst of that he received a DM from someone who received a DM who had plenty to say in regards to the actor.

“Dumisani must shut up because I know he harassed my friend on set many years ago. She would sit in her car to avoid him. She was only on set when they started shooting. She reported him to the producer. They swept it under the rug. This was more than 10 years ago,” read the DM.

The actor expressed that whilst the concept of s.e.xual harassment may not be new but “what constitutes s.e.xual harassment is totally out of our comprehension”.

“I’m not going to say I did not because chances are I did not know then that it was s.e.xual harassment. That said, now that I know better, I shall be even more vocal against it!” tweeted Dumisani.

Dumisani said that it was a pity that the producers, he was reported to swept the matter under the rug as they deprived him of an opportunity to learn about s.e.xual harassment early on in his career.
