Rihanna in Serious Trouble, accused of Robbing SA

Award-winning singer Busiswa has put Fenty Beauty on Blast for using the remake of her hit song with DJ Maphorisa titled Midnight Starring. She said she is sad that the company used the remake to avoid paying her.

DJ Maphorisa tweeted the Fenti Beauty video and captioned it: “Mara le baring mo ke cut n paste Siri Siri onketsang.

Tweeps have called out the international superstar Rihanna after she shared video ads of her Fenty Beauty Products with Busiswa’s midnight starring playing on the video captioned: “The way y’all skin bout to be litty! I hate talking too long for zoom meetings and dem early FaceTimes !! Get into this new @fentybeauty #EazeDrop Blurring Skin Tint for that instantly smooth, blurred skin.
South Africans flooded into the comments section calling out the American singer for “stealing” the track.

@LenkoeTaylor responded: “We love you Riri, but you not gonna disrespect South African Artists and get away with it…Pay @busiswaah her money now for putting her voice on that sample of her song…Thin lentombazana ,iyandifuqa.

“Why do people feel it’s okay to steal and just take from Africa… Why?… Talk with Busiswa please wena Sphongo please,” tweeted @mduncube.

Twitter user Ashante Parker told Rihanna to contact Busiswa and pay her for using her track: “Riri please do the right thing within 48 hrs & contact @busiswaah by paying her what is rightful belong to her bcz she works so dawn hard composing that hit song that still bangs in the hearts of fellow 🇿🇦 or kuzoshuba nontombi asiyiki nikx thina e Azania.”

Some Twitter users, however, have different opinions and feel that Rihanna does not have to pay.
Zayd tweeted: “It’s a sample, she doesn’t have to pay for shite. It’s not going to reflect in your account, why do you care??? Say thank you for the recognition and move on.

Busiswa has also tried to calm the storm, urging her followers to relax
“No,Relax. She might not even be personally aware. And sampling music and not paying vocalists is legal practice. Right ? ” she responded to her follower.
This is not the first time International artists are accused of stealing South African artists’ songs. Amongst others previously accused is Megan Ryte and Will I AM, both accused of stealing from Durban’s DJ Lag.
