R Kelly engaged to his alleged victim Joycelyn Savage

R Kelly is engaged to be married to his alleged victim Joycelyn Savage, according to a letter the aspiring singer reportedly wrote to the judge on 13 June. TMZ reports that Savage introduced herself as “Robert Kelly’s fiance” in her correspondence with the judge two weeks before the R&B singer was sentenced to 30 years on 29 June. In the letter, Savage pleaded that the judge hands down a lenient sentence.

“My name is Joycelyn Savage, and I’m Robert Kelly’s fiancé,” she began in letter. The 26-year-old went on to tell the judge that she’s not the victim the government makes her out to be.

“I’m writing this letter in support of Robert in advance of his sentencing, so I can explain to the court that I’m not the victim that the government has portrayed me to be.”

Further explaining, Savage said that she and R Kelly have a “very special connection” and they are “deeply in love”. She went on to describe her relationship with R Kelly as “amazing,” saying he was the “best thing” that’s ever happened to her. Savage also went on to express that it breaks her heart that the government has created a narrative that she is a victim, E! News reports.

“Robert is not the monster that the government has described him to be. The Robert I know is very sweet, gentle, and kind.

“He’s very determined and focused on his goals, and the things that have been said about him, with me and other women being held against our will is absolutely untrue “I’m a grown woman, and can speak for myself which is why I wanted to provide this letter to the court.”

Concluding her letter, Savage said she believes R Kelly should be home with his loved ones because he is “a great man with a great heart.

Almost two weeks after Savage penned the letter, R Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in jail. In addition, he received five years of supervised probation and a $100,000 (R1.7 million) fine as part of his sentencing.

When the Happy People singer’s highly publicised trial ended in September 2021, he was found guilty of all nine charges he faced. These include racketeering, bribery, coercion, enticement and sex trafficking.

In 2019, Savage and another one of R Kelly’s victims, Azriel Clary, denied allegations they were held hostage by the singer. This is all f**king lies for money and if you can’t see that, you’re ignorant and you’re stupid as f**k because you want to be all—because that’s the world we live in,” Clary said during their sit-down with Gayle King on CBS This Morning.
