President Cyril Ramaphosa has submitted his response to the Public Protector regarding her probe into his BOSASA donation. This comes as Busisiwe Mkhwebane implicated the president in her investigation into funding for his campaign for the position of ANC head.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has submitted his response to the Public Protector’s notice, hopeful that this will aid in speeding up the process. The Presidency released a statement confirming that Ramaphosa had responded to Busisiwe Mkhwebane: “The President’s submission contains various confirmatory affidavits and supporting documents which, in his view, will enable this matter to be brought to conclusion as speedily as possible.

Public Protector had notified the president in May that he had been implicated in her investigation for violating the Executive Ethics Code. Despite receiving the notice in May, Ramaphosa had requested an extension due to ‘pressing matters of state’.
In a statement, Ramaphosa had reaffirmed his respect for Mkhwebane‘s office and committed his full cooperation. ANC leaders and alliance partners had questioned Mkhwebane’s motives in pursuing the donations made to Ramaphosa, criticizing her capabilities, reports Mail & Guardian.
