Public Enterprise Minister to appeal power exemption ruling

Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan, says his department will lodge an urgent appeal to set aside the judgment on power cuts.

Last week the High Court ordered the government to exempt hospitals, schools, and police stations from rolling blackouts.

The application was brought by Action SA, the UDM, the IFP, and 17 others.

However, Gordhan says his department has serious concerns about the implications of the court ruling on the current efforts to stabilize the national grid and get the country out of rolling blackouts.
