Lockdowns no longer necessary, says Professor Madhi

Lockdown levels are no longer necessary. That’s the word from vaccinology professor, Shabir Madhi.
He says lockdowns only help alleviate pressure on the healthcare system.
The country’s reported just over 2,000 new coronavirus infections in a day.
“We could probably downscale any sort of restrictions that have been imposed in the past,” Madhi said.
“Other than having limitations on indoor gatherings especially in poorly ventilated spaces, all of the data indicates that other than eliminating the pressure on health care facilities at the time, level restrictions haven’t done much to people that have already been infected.”
