President Cyril Ramaphosa has echoed the ANC’s conference policy proposal that there must be gender equality laws. Ramaphosa says women should be treated the same way their male counterparts are. He said the government is committed to making that a reality.
He was speaking at the commemorations of Women’s Day in KwaZulu-Natal earlier on Tuesday. On average, women still earn far less than men…there must be equal pay for equal work.
It makes no political, no economical, no social sense whatsoever that remunerate men for equal work that they do with women and remunerate women far less,” Ramaphosa said. We’ll establish a law on that…we must begin to demonstrate our seriousness about men and women and we are going to do it.
