Watch: President Ramaphosa tells woman to go home and change clothes

President Cyril Ramaphosa left social media users in stitches after telling a woman to go home and change her clothes while on his campaign trail on the West Rand on Saturday. The woman was still in her pyjamas and gown and according to the president, it was too late in the day to be wearing such.

The woman decided to meet the president in her pyjamas and gown.

“Tsamo change(er), ke half past eleven [go home and change, it’s half past eleven],” said the president.

Last month, Ramaphosa shared a light moment with Delft residents in the Western Cape after implying that couples were not allowed to have sex on voting day.

Ramaphosa told residents to prioritise voting on May 8 and leave other things for other days.

He said: “On the 8th of May, please know that you have an appointment with the president. You have an appointment with the president. So please wake up on the 8th of May, if you’ll be sleeping with someone, wake that person up and say to the person ‘wake up my love we have an appointment with the president. When you have an appointment with the president, you are not supposed to be doing other things. Whatever you are used to doing when you wake up, know that you have an appointment with the president. When you wake up to talk and gossip or you do other things, don’t do it.”

He further told the singles to also wake up and wake their neighbours to go and vote for the ANC.

“If you sleep alone, like that man there, they say he sleeps alone… if you do happen to sleep alone, wake up and then wake up others and tell them that you have to go vote,” he said.
