Premier League 2021/22: Ronaldo’s return to Manchester United renews hope for the title

Football sensation Cristiano Ronaldo is back at his beloved club Manchester United, and the transfer news became a nostalgic moment for fans all around the world. The Portuguese footballer’s name seems to be on the tip of everyone’s tongue nowadays, and even though he did not participate in their recent game against Wolves, it was his name that could be heard echoing throughout the stadium.

Mason Greenwood was the Red Devils’ saviour that match, and he managed to score the only goal of the game, 10 minutes from time. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side was considered to have a below-par performance in the first half and did not seem to improve much during the second. Although Wolves kept the pressure consistent, Greenwood scored his third goal of the season and extended his team’s unbeaten record so far.

For Bruno Lage, it was a cruel night indeed. Although Wolves pushed through for the entire game, displaying amazing instances of excellent field play, they ended up exiting the stadium empty-handed. Luck was simply not on their side, given Manchester United’s vulnerability and weak defence throughout the game. However, given Ronaldo’s recent transfer to the team, the excitement overshadowed any blunders that were made.

He completed the fairytale return to Old Trafford for around £12m on transfer deadline day and broke the internet by doing so. Th

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner, who was set to transfer to Manchester City at first, arrived in a lux £170,000 Lamborghini and trained with his new teammates on Tuesday ahead of their most anticipated match against Newcastle on Saturday. It will be Ronaldo’s second Premier League debut against Newcastle, and he will definitely be under a scrutinizing and adoring spotlight. Ronaldo holds one of the biggest names in football and appears in Sportingbet’s list of 11 Greatest Premier League Players.

Many have high hopes for the football star and believe he will skyrocket Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men into some Premier League success or will at least play a heavy hand in doing so. Bruno Fernandes, a fellow Portuguese footballer and Manchester United star, is also of the same opinion. Fernandes is also hopeful of the missing edge that Ronaldo will bring to the team and finally earn them some long-awaited silverware. Speaking to RPT3, he mentioned: ‘We know that enthusiasm will be high, everyone knows Cristiano and is very happy and confident to have him back.

‘Us players are part of that confidence, we know what he can give us.

‘Our focus and Cristiano’s, because of what I’ve already talked to him about, is to win what there is to win.

‘Our goals remain and obviously, with Cristiano, we have one more reference to help us get closer to that.’
