8 arrested after shootout at police station in Cape Town

Police in the Western Cape are combing the scene of a shooting in Ravensmead in Cape Town.

Eight suspects have been arrested after police came under attack by suspected gang members.

It is alleged members of the 28-gang stormed the police station demanding the return of alcohol previously confiscated.

A police officer and a Leap officer are recovering in hospital following the shooting.

The eight face charges of attempted murder, attack on police, public violence as well as intimidation.

Police are not ruling out further arrests.
