Foetus and placenta found in stream

Gauteng: Wednesday morning Netcare 911 responded to a call for help after members of the public found a baby in a river.

When medics arrived on the scene they found a fully developed foetus with placenta attached lying on the bank of a small stream on the corners of Alwyn Taljaard and Du Plessis Road in Alberton.

The foetus was assessed, however was sadly declared deceased on the scene by a Netcare 911 emergency care practitioner.

It is not clear how long the foetus had been exposed.

The Alberton SAPS was on the scene and will be investigating.
