Gauteng DoE disputes school placement report

The Gauteng Education Department is refuting a study on school placement problems. The Centre for Child Law says the department is to blame for ongoing issues since 2015 including not placing pupils from other provinces quickly enough.
The department responded that every year brings new challenges that place it under huge pressure.
Departmental spokesperson Steve Mabona said the research obtained from a distance without interacting with the department is disingenuous and unfair.
Mabona said outstanding placements in the area were mainly drawn from disputed cases and inner grades, like Grade 10 and 11.
