Overview / Responsibilities
Wood is currently recruiting for a Piping Designer for a short-term contract for our Mining & Minerals office in Bryanston.
Main Purpose of the Role:
Produce piping drawings in accordance with accepted Engineering practice and company drafting procedures.
Production of drawings on time and within budget.
Production of drawings in accordance with established procedures, i.e. internal review, client review, checking, etc.
Clarity and accuracy of drawings.
Knowledge of and adherence to company Procedures.
To actively pursue excellent Health, Safety, and Environmental performance standards and to encourage all staff to achieve or outperform the indicated HSE KPI’s of the company
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Detailed design and production of piping drawings encompassing all aspects of a plant construction package in accordance with relevant standards and project requirements.
Equipment and piping layout capabilities for feasibility and study work.
Timely completion of piping drawings and schedules.
Adherence to project man-hour budgets.
Adherence to company Standards and Procedures.
HSSE Responsibilities
Read, understand and obey the HSSE policy arrangements/procedures and rules as issued.
Always work in accordance with method statements and risk assessments as provided.
Take care of your own health and safety whilst at work, and ensure your activities do not adversely affect the health and safety of others.
Report to immediate supervisor all incidents, which have or could result in personal injury or environmental damage
Skills / Qualifications
Qualifications:
Diploma or equivalent in draughting and sound engineering background
Familiar with CAD software packages and company Drafting Procedures
Extensive experience with Bentley software a prerequisite
Knowledge, skills, and experience:
Minimum of 5 years piping design draughting experience of which at least 2 years are in the mining and mineral processing area
Some knowledge of process flow diagrams, P&ID’S, fabrication, construction, and operations
Good understanding of mechanical/piping technology
Understanding of other discipline requirements
Ability to work unsupervised, focus on task completion, initiative
Quick and accurate with methodical approach to allocated work areas
Personal attributes:
Good communication skills
Attention to detail relationship and networking ability
