DA accuses ANC of inaction on Pienaarsrivier pollution

The DA says the City of Tshwane is ignoring an environmental hazard in the city.

It says nothing is being done about raw sewage spilling into Pienaarsrivier.

City of Tshwane administrator Mpho Nawa is refuting the claims.

“We want to dispute that nothing is happening. There is so much that is happening, of course, it’s not completed but much work is being done to ensure that the spillage is being dealt with. Technical workers are on the ground at the project,” Nawa said.

“We would have pressured the service provider that in the next three months they should have concluded the work. The assurance that I have received from the officials is that we are 78 percent closer to solving the problem so work is being done,” Nawa explained.
