Parenting forces Skeem Saam actress Pebetsi Matlaila(Mokgadi) to take a break from social media

Actress Pebetsi Matlaila says she’s taken a break from all social events since having her second baby.

Pebetsi, who plays Mokgadi on the SABC 1 soapie Skeem Saam, said she turned down a lot of events because she was trying to keep her child safe.

She welcomed her daughter in April.

Taking to social media, she said: “I can’t tell you how many invitations to a braai, Women’s Month events and even just a girls’ evening I have had to turn down. I feel guilty being away from her for too long. Having a child during a pandemic can get you so paranoid.”

Pebetsi said she had since decided to work from home.
“I have since learnt to work from home and only go out when I have to do a shoot. I then come back home in time to put her to bed and see her wake up in the morning. No other hood like #motherhood,” wrote Pebetsi.

In another post, the actress said if it wasn’t paying her, then she was not leaving her children for it.

“My new rule is; if it doesn’t pay me, it’s not worth leaving my motherly duties for.”

The actress also shared a positive post, saying God would save the world from the pandemic and people would sing with gratitude when it was all over.

“The year 2021 has been rough bazalwane. Mara we will look back on these times and sing with gratitude for what God has brought us through.”
