She was cleaning the room to rent it out to a new tenant. But the mastandi was not prepared to find what her old tenant, who is a sangoma, left behind.
She found men’s underwear with a metal lock and a panty wrapped around it.

Mastandi Khetho Hlongwane, who is also a sangoma, then performed a ritual to cleanse the room so it doesn’t affect the new tenant.
But now the 38-year-old mastandi from Buhle Park, Ekurhuleni is worried as she doesn’t know what consequences this would have for her family.
She contacted the sangoma tenant to fetch his things, but he didn’t pitch.
“I don’t know where he moved to and he’s no longer taking my calls,” she said.
Khetho said the sangoma lived with her for close to a year and he paid rent well.
She suspects the sangoma used the underwear to lock someone.
“By the looks of things, he was helping a woman to lock her man, but it raises questions why he stashed it in the brick.
“It looks like it has been there for a long time,” she said.
She said that the tenant was also a prophet.
“He sometimes behaved strangely. He sometimes poured salt in front of his door, saying he was chasing away evil spirits,” she said.
“Why did he leave his secrets behind? It raises so many questions,” said a concerned resident.
The publication also spoke to the new tenant, who said she could sleep and has not experienced any problems.
Sangoma Buyaphi Mhlaba said this was often used to lock a man so his 4-5 couldn’t work.
‘If a woman suspects her man is cheating, they go to a sangoma to lock him so his 4-5 is erect only when he’s with her and when he goes to his nyatsi it sleeps.”
He said to do this they have to get a man’s underwear and lock it up with a padlock and wrap the woman’s panty to hold it. By so doing, the woman will be holding her man and not sharing him with other women.
