Senior prosecutors at the NPA are themselves being investigated for pursuing unsubstantiated claims against Johan Booysen.
This is revealed in a new report by investigative NGO Open Secrets.
The report quotes the National Prosecuting Authority’s spokesperson, who said internal proceedings have been instituted against Johannesburg Director of Public prosecutions Andrew Chauke and others for the role they played in pursuing an unsubstantiated case of racketeering against the former KwaZulu-Natal Hawks head.
Open Secrets is calling for those being investigated to be placed on precautionary suspension while the investigation is concluded.
