At 14H01 Thursday morning Netcare 911 responded to reports of a collision on the corners of Kassier Road and Chartwell Drive in Assagay, Durban West.
Reports from the scene indicate that two light motor vehicles and a heavy motor vehicle transporting Paraffin were involved in a collision.
One of the vehicles went down an embankment, the driver an adult male sustained serious injuries and required Advanced Life Support intervention to stabilise him while a Netcare 911 Rescue Technician used the Jaws of Life to free the patient from the vehicle.
Once extricated the patient was transported by ambulance to hospital for further treatment.
Two adult males from the truck sustained minor injuries and another male from the second car sustained moderate injuries.
Once stabilised all the patients were transported by ambulance to hospital.
