Motorists urged to obey the law this Easter

Transport Minister Sindisiwe Chikunga is warning motorists against breaking the law during the Easter holiday period.

Chikunga launched this year’s Easter Road Safety campaign in Atteridgeville on Friday.

This year’s campaign will focus on drinking and driving, pedestrian safety, and vehicle roadworthiness.

Over 250 recently graduated traffic officers will also be observing operations until they’re deployed on a full time basis.

The Transport Department says its main priority will be a steep reduction in the number of road fatalities this Easter.
