Girls and Boys Town South Africa, a leader in the field of Child Care, is looking for a Female Nurse to handle the Health and Safety of the Youth in Care at our Tongaat Campus and KZN Family Homes
DUTIES
Offering consultation to Youth on their medical well being
Administering of prescribed and other medication
Training and education on basic Principles of Healthcare and Personal Hygiene
Assistance to the Campus in cases of medical emergencies.
Act as an intercessor with external Medical Practitioners
Further to the above duties of the Nurse
Assessment and some counselling of challenging Youth
Drug Testing
Group work
Report writing
This half day position will suit a responsible person who is prepared to work according to the Girls and Boys Town South Africa values.
Candidate Requirements
Education and Registration Required
A Bachelor’s Degree or a Diploma in Nursing
Registration with the Nursing Council (SANC)
Licensed to dispense medicine.
Experience Required
At least three year experience in the Nursing field as a generalist.
Computer skills including MS Word and Excel
Personality, Attribute and Abilities
This position requires a special, dynamic and innovative individual
Bilingualism (an indigenous third language will be advantageous)
Code 08 drivers licence
Access to own transport will be an added advantage
Interest in working with adolescents in a residential setting will be an added advantage
Available to work flexi hours ( 4.5 hours per day ) – Normally 14h00 to 18h30
Should be able to work independently as well as part of a team
This position reports to: Youth Development Manager
