NPA’s Anti-Corruption Task Team failed SA: Batohi

The National Prosecuting Authority’s Anti-Corruption Task Team has failed the nation. That’s according to NPA head, Shamila Batohi.

Since 2013, the NPA’s received over 880 referrals which translated into around 290 cases. Of those, a measly nine have been finalised.

Batohi didn’t mince words when she appeared before Parliament’s Standing Committee on Public Accounts. She was updating Scopa on matters referred to the NPA by the Special Investigating Unit.

Batohi says a new strategy is being put in place to fight corruption, as the Anti-Corruption Task Team is clearly not effective. The NPA is investigating cases involving the SABC, Life Esidimeni, Bosasa and Eskom, among others.
