NPA considering docket linked to Enock Mpianzi’s death

The NPA is considering the docket linked to the death of Grade 8 pupil Enock Mpianzi. His drowning during a school orientation camp caused a huge public outcry. The Parktown Boys High School’s handling of the incident has been criticised as Mpianzi was only found a day after he disappeared.

Five teachers and the principal have been found to have been negligent and didn’t fulfil their duty to protect pupils. The NPA says it is still awaiting a copy of the forensic report commissioned by the education department and will make a decision in due course. Mpianzi’s family is now set to take action against those found negligent in the death of their child.
