Claims of a baby trapped under rubble in Alexandra is being dismissed.
Police spokesperson, Kay Makhubele, says the area was searched but nothing was found.
Residents reported a baby had been trapped as the Red Ants demolished structures in the township.
Chaos erupted in Alex after the Red Ants demolished illegal structures in the area.
Residents have been accused of occupying Johannesburg’s Marlboro Gardens area illegally.
However, the residents are accusing the local government of treating them unfairly.
The community alleges that the Red Ants came unannounced and started demolishing their houses.
One resident claimed that her two-bedroom house, where she was staying with her kids was also destroyed.
