Malema is prepared to pour the tea on Multichoice new channel

On Monday, Economic Freedom Front (EFF) leader, Julius Malema took to Twitter to tease that he may have the inside scoop on Multichoice’s announcement of the new channel that will replace the slot of Gupta-linked Afro Worldview.

The cable network found itself in hot waters recently, with the public accusing it of leaving more than 300 journalists and media personnel without work after ANN7’s contract was discontinued.

Aubrey Tshabalala, the Communications Workers’ Union’s (CWU) secretary-general, criticised Multichoice’s handling of the situation.

Malema hinted at a controversial outcome on the issue of who will claim the channel Monday night on Twitter.

His tweet suggested that there was a storm that we had to prepare for, referring to the impending announcement as messy.

It appears that, whatever the announcement may be, it will surely raise some eyebrows. Also, it appears that Malema and his team are waiting to provide more context on the impact of the deal should Multichoice furnish details on who will take over the slot.

Merricks had lured 78 of the workers who were let go by ANN7 to join his startup. He soon got into hot waters with the workers after they claimed to have not been paid by Merricks after working for him for a month.

Multichoice is expected to reveal the successful bidder that will take over the former Afro Worldview channel on Tuesday.
