The South African Human Rights Commission is holding a National Conference on Racism.
The conference will look at how the country has fared in meeting the constitutional goals of non-racism, diversity, and social cohesion.
“We celebrated 25 years of our Constitution now but never the less racism persists in South Africa as evidence by the high number of race-based complaints as received by the commission as well as annually as well as through observations contained in research, investigations and hearing reports,” said the Commission’s Advocate, Andre Gaum.
Gaum says the main aim of the conference is to bring together different stakeholders to find a way forward.
