N3 Highway in Harrismith cleared after protest

The N3 Highway in Harrismith has been cleared after hundreds of demonstrators blocked the road on Monday.

Protesters say the water and electricity crisis in the area is unbearable.

They are also concerned about the state of the roads there, and an ongoing sewage spillage which they say is causing people to fall ill.

Protesters used burning tyres, stones, and debris to block several roads.

They have promised to continue demonstrating until the government meets their demands.

The N3 has now opened, however, protesters continue their demonstrations in Intabazwe location.
