It’s only four months into the year and Mzansi has already faced several downtimes with the loss of much-loved stars.
SIBUSISO KHWINANA
Mzansi mourned the life and talent of young Matwetwe star, Sibusiso Khwinana after it was confirmed he was stabbed to death in March 2019.
The young star and a friend were allegedly attacked over a cellphone. SAPS spokesperson Captain Mavelo Masondo confirmed the 25-year-old man had been fatally stabbed at around 11 pm in Pretoria.
Broadcaster Xolani Gwala
Xolani Gwala’s death broke Mzansi’s hearts. He passed on after battling cancer for a while.
Actor Andile Gumbi
The Isibaya actor passed away in Egypt after suffering a heart attack on set of a production he was working on.
Singer Thami Shobede
The Idols SA alumni passed on after a short illness and hospital admission.
Actress Nomhle Nkonyeni
Mam’Nomhle’s passing was a great loss to the film and television industry and Mzansi as a whole.
Singer Nichume
Vocalist Nichume reportedly took her own life earlier this year after suffering from depression for a while.
In other news – Did SABC cancel Isidingo?
The SABC has been in financial trouble for a good minute now. And it’s response has been to shuffle people and shows. Recently, it cancelled one of it’s long standing signature shows, Top Billing on SABC 3.
The announcement that the show was being cancelled came just a week before it was switched off air. Much to many a Top Billing avid viewers dismay, the show’s send-off fell short of many expectations from it’s fans. Top Billing made our mouths water for travel, style and home designs.
