Mugabe family changes Casket

The family of former President Robert Mugabe reportedly changed the casket that was paraded at Rufaro and the National Sports Stadium since Thursday last week.

The body arrived in a wooden casket from Singapore where Mugabe passed away on September 6.

However, when the body was flown to Zvimba, Mugabe’s rural home, mourners were horrified to discover that the casket had been changed.

Mourners who spoke to Zim Morning Post were suspicious that something could be happening behind the scenes with the development. One of them is quoted as saying:

What will happen to the casket that was bought in Singapore?

This is shocking. Are we sure we are going to bury the real Robert Mugabe or there are some tricks being played by the family?

The publication, however, established that Doves Funeral Parlour provided a casket for the Mugabe family before they opted to buy another one in Singapore. It was told:

Doves provided a 20-gauge-copper casket which lasts longer than a wooden one.

The Mugabes were supposed to take the casket to Singapore but had opted to purchase another one there.

Upon the arrival of the body, the family had suggested using the same casket from Singapore but after some changes with regards to burial arrangements, they then opted to change it.
