Classified information could mean a Parliamentary inquiry into recent riots would be a futile exercise.
The Police Portfolio Committee is currently preparing to probe the violence and looting in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng.
But it says top secret information will have to be declassified.
The committee has already come under fire from Parliament’s house chairperson for poor oversight in KZN in the aftermath of the violence.
