Heart-broken Isidingo actor Motlatsi Mafatshe cries to SABC – Please don’t cancel our show

Actor and singer Motlatsi Mafatshe on Wednesday took to Instagram to beg the SABC not to cancel Isidingo. A few months ago, the broadcaster announced the soapie would stop being aired after 12 March.

Motlatsi wrote: “Please don’t destroy a working system.

“Don’t burn the college we ought to learn from. Don’t sacrifice the mother – the children will go astray.”

He’s been on the show for more than 10 years and started directing episodes last year.

He wrote: “I grew up dreaming of becoming a part of this show because of the quality of actors it produced and, more than anything, the level of storytelling that wasn’t only for black people but the entire nation. Little did I know it was also airing across the continent and the globe.”

Motlatsi told Daily Sun he’d now focus on his music.

“The hustle starts from scratch and it’s nerve-wracking. I’ll focus on my music and spend more time in studio,” he said.

He released a single titled Thando in November.

SABC spokeswoman Mmoni Seapolelo said the decision to axe the soapie stood.
