More cops to be deployed in Kliptown

Police Minister Bheki Cele says more police will be deployed in Kliptown.

This after a 44-year-old man was gunned down at the Chicken farm Informal Settlement on Monday.

Kgomotso Diale was shot dead allegedly by residents of the informal settlement after an altercation on Monday.

This comes after Pimville residents marched to the area over cable theft.

Five other people were also injured during the attack.

Cele has called for calm.

“When we leave here, we’re going to give the police 10 new vehicles,” he told residents.

“We want to end this excuse that they don’t have the resources. They need to do their jobs and as a government, we have to address that.

“Secondly, we have dedicated a team of 12 detectives to deal with these cases of murder and attempted murder.”
