Mop up operations underway after fire
Mop-up operations are underway in Paarl after a fire blazed through hundred informal dwellings.
At least 400 people have been left homeless.
The cause of the fire is unknown and investigations are ongoing.
The Gift of the Givers’ Ali Samlay said, “we’re still busy investigating.”
“The area was experiencing strong winds. It is suspected that a candle fell over, and with the strong winds it was difficult for the firefighters to stop the fire. The investigation are still going on.”
“Mop-up operations is taking place, the main concern at the moment is to make sure that dwellers are back on their feet and make them as comfortable as possible. Gift of the Givers will be delivering wheelchairs for the elderly there is two recipients for tomorrow [Monday] as well.”
