KZN Cogta MEC, Sipho Hlomuka, is probing a R5-million business breakfast.
It was reportedly hosted by the Zululand District Municipality to woo investors.
It is believed the event at the Elangeni Hotel in Durban did not have the council’s approval.
Hlomuka said, “in our entire lives, we have never seen a breakfast that might cost R5-million. These allegations (are) why we have taken the decision, as the provincial government through Cogta, to institute an investigation under Zululand district.”
Hlomuka said the investigation has already commenced and a preliminary report is expected to be released this month.
