Family of Miguel Louw anxiously await DNA tests

DNA tests and a post-mortem are expected to determine whether a decomposed body is that of missing Durban schoolboy Miguel Louw.

Police stumbled upon the corpse in Phoenix during a search for suspects in an unrelated case.

The boy went missing a few weeks ago.

He was fetched from his school across the road by Mohammed Ebrahim before both of them walked across to this restaurant where two meals were purchased.

CCTV footage shows the pair walking towards this bus shelter to a taxi but now the point of contention is whether both of them boarded.

DNA tests

Ebrahim was arrested and charged with Louw’s kidnapping and the theft of his birth certificate three days later.

He was granted bail of R2,500 in the Durban Magistrate’s Court – but he remains in custody, unable to raise the money.

Police said it’s likely the body could be that of Miguel’s, but won’t confirm the identity until the DNA tests and post-mortem are completed.

The Louw family isn’t commenting.

A case of murder is being investigated.
