Gauteng: At 01H31 Wednesday morning Netcare 911 responded to reports of a shooting outside a restaurant on the corners of 7th and 2nd Avenue in Melville.
Reports from the scene indicate that a group of people were shot in what was said to be a drive-by shooting.
When medics assessed the scene they found that two adult females had sustained fatal injuries and were declared deceased on the scene.
Another six patients had also sustained serious injuries and they required Advanced Life Support intervention to stabilise them.
The scene had been cordoned off by the SAPS while Paramedics treated the patients.
Once stabilised all the patients were transported by various ambulance services to hospital for further treatment.
Circumstances leading up to the shooting will be investigated by the relevant authorities.
