Matric results 2018 – Where to get them

The 2018 National Senior Certificate examinations, also known as the matric exams, were concluded on 28 November 2018.

The outcome of the examinations – the 2018 matric results – will be announced by the Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga, on 3 January 2019.

This announcement will be broadcast on SABC and eNCA, and will also be streamed via the Department of Basic Education’s website.

There are several ways learners can get their individual 2018 matric results.

The Department of Basic Education website
Candidates’ partial results will be made available on the Department of Basic Education website.

IEB Website 
Learners who wrote the IEB exams can visit the IEB Online website on 3 January 2019 for their results.

News24 Matric Results Portal
News24 has partnered with the IEC (Electoral Commission) to bring South Africans the 2018 matric results.

The EWN matric portal
The EWN matric results portal makes it possible for learners to get their results online on the day of release.

Sowetan Live matric portal
The Sowetan Live matric portal offers National Senior Certificate learners a pre-registration service to receive their results and share them on social media.

Matric results 2018

SABC Education
The SABC Education Matric Results service will release the results to students on 4 January 2019.

To receive their results, learners must register on its database using SMS, USSD, or the new matric results service MatricsMate App.

The SABC Education Matric Results service will run from 10 December 2018 until 31 January 2019.

Daily newspapers
The 2018 matric results will be published in most of South Africa’s major daily newspapers.

To find their results, users will have to know their exam number (learners’ exam numbers will be published instead of their names).

At school
The Department of Basic Education urged learners to get their statements of results on 4 January 2019 from their school or centre where they wrote the exams.

Use SMS
Learners can send their ID number and exam number to 35658 to register to receive their 2018 matric results.

They will get a confirmation SMS after registration, and will then receive their results as soon as they become available.

There is a once-off cost of R3.00 to register.

USSD service
On the day the results are released, users can dial *120*35658# and follow the instructions to receive their matric results.

Users will receive their results per subject after they have completed the process.

Phone the Department of Basic Education
Learners can call the Department of Basic Education on 082 152 to receive their 2018 matric results.

Provincial Education Departments
Certain provincial education department websites provide learners their results.
