Masechaba Ndlovu is Returning to Radio

We haven’t heard the soft yet strong voice of Masechaba Ndlovu on our airwaves since the 31st of March and it’s safe to say she has been missed. Which is why news of her long-awaited return to radio has been greeted with excitement from her fans on social media.

Masechaba has been off the air ever since Metro FM refused to renew her contract. According to a number of insiders, the station felt as if her interview with Babes Wodumo was the final straw and as a result, when her contract expired, they chose not to give her another year on air. Things appear to be tense in that corner of SABC Radio Park, with the station also dismissing DJ Fresh a few months later under similarly harsh circumstances.

However, Masechaba will have the last laugh in August when she walks past the glass-protected studio of Metro FM, straight down the hall to another SABC run station that has decided to give her a slot on air: SAFM.

According to reports, Masechaba will be filling in as a guest presenter throughout the month of August as the station observes South African women’s month: and who better to hold it down behind the microphone than Masechaba herself?

An excited Masechaba took to social media to thank the SABC for the opportunity while also expressing her determination to hold impactful discussions during the month she will be on air. She said, “I am deeply honoured to be joining the @SAfmRadio family. It is a privilege to be entrusted with such an enormous task. I intend to serve honestly and wholeheartedly. Thank you SABC and thank you South Africa.

Many fans took a moment to point out that talk radio is arguably the platform that serves Masechaba best and if there is one disappointment, it’s that Masechaba will only be on air for a month.

SAFM’s Women’s Month activities will be themed with the hashtag #SheIsPower and we are excited to see what other moves the station has up its sleeves.

However, this presents a dilemma for many of us. The first of August is also the date that DJ Fresh will be debuting on 947… how are we supposed to choose?!
