Position Purpose:

To effectively and efficiently plan, schedule, manage and implement planned maintenance programmers including but not
limited to approved alterations and repairs of craft/s components/s and structure/s thereby achieving availability of fleet at all times.

To ensure that statutory requirements are complied with the preservation of standards, the economical and effective
the operation, maintenance, and utilization of the ports floating assets in order to ensure the safe and efficient handling and
around the Ports thereby contributing to the competent reputation of Marine Services

Position outputs:

Plan, schedule and manage projects for maintenance, alterations, and repair of floatation craft components and structure.
Have in-depth knowledge of and apply applicable status and ordinances related to vessels maintenance, alteration and

repair projects.

Compile read, interpret and work with job specifications, sketches, blueprints, and equipment plans.
Liase effectively and cooperatively with contracts trade personnel administrators and others.
Maintain accurate and complete records
Develop innovative solutions to operational problems associate with the planning and scheduling of maintenance projects.
Investigate, compile reports and be prepared to act as an expert witness with regards maritime incidents, accidents or
operational events that may impact on Transnet personnel or assets
Carry out continues and ongoing survey of Transnet vessels as is required in the absence of Classification Society
registration of same
Compile and control Opex budget to ensure adequate provision of resources and business unit profitability.
Compile and control Capex budget to ensure adequate provision of resources.
Ensure Marine staff are competent and well trained and that craft are operated and maintained at a high level in order to
maintain their effectiveness to ensure longevity, client satisfaction, and safe operation.
Assist and guide operational staff in problem-solving during planned and unplanned maintenance.
Assess and manage contracts both internally and externally to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and value for money.
Manage, maintain and ensure legal compliance of material stores equipment and personnel.
Identify and reduce risk to Transnet by investigating incidents/ accidents and setting up and enforcing work procedures and
standards
Manage and control quality management systems
Enforcing Transnet environmental policies and standards
Inculcating Transnet values

Qualifications & Experience:

2nd Engineer unlimited (STCW) or
Chief Marine Engineer Officer (Port Operations) and
Minimum 5 years as Chief Marine Engineer Officer (Port Operations)
Or
5 years as 2nd Engineer on seagoing ship / CMEO in the Port environment or equivalent.
