Mac Miller was reportedly dead for hours before his body was found,
According to law enforcement officials speaking to the publication, friends had been over at the rapper’s house on Thursday night on 6 September, before leaving in the early hours of Friday morning.
Mac’s body was only found at noon on Friday 7 September.
The rapper, real name Malcolm McCormick died of an apparent overdose in his San Fernando Valley home. According to TMZ, a tiny amount of white powder was found at his residence when police searched the home and they believe the house was swept clean to hide evidence of drug use.
The rapper’s cause of death is yet to be determined.
The LA County Coroner have completed the autopsy of the body and are awaiting toxicology results to make a finding, which takes between four to six weeks.
In the meantime his body has arrived in his hometown of Pittsburgh for his funeral. His family will reportedly hold a Jewish funeral service for him in Pittsburgh later this week.
A public vigilwas hosted for Mac on Wednesday night at Pittsburgh’s Blue Slide Park. An estimated 22 thousand people gathered to pay tribute to him.
Meanwhile close friend, Frankie Grande, says he owes his own sobriety to the late rapper.
In a post on his Instagram, the 35-year-old brother of Mac’s ex-girlfriend, Ariana Grande, said he was “heartbroken over Malcolm’s death”.
“He was the reason I went to the rehabilitation centre where I was detoxed safely from all of the drugs alcohol and medications I was taking, when I couldn’t imagine living without them,” the former Big Brother star said.
