Johannesburg police have launched a manhunt for Kaizer Chiefs star Luke Fleurs’ killers.
This after the Kaizer Chiefs defender was shot and killed on Wednesday night, 3 April.
The footballer was killed in a botched hijacking incident while at a petrol station in Florida, Joburg at about 8.30 pm.
The Joburg-based footballer was driving his red Golf 8 when he was hijacked.
On Thursday, 4 April, the police confirmed the details of this matter.

“It’s reported that the victim, who was driving a red VW Golf 8 GTI, drove into the petrol station on 14th Avenue, corner Hendrik Potgieter. While waiting to be served by the petrol attendant, he was confronted by two armed men who came driving a white BMW 1 Series,” Gauteng police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo said.
“The suspects pointed him with a firearm and took him out of his vehicle, then shot him once on the upper body. One suspect drove off with the victim’s car, followed by his accomplice,” Masondo said.
According to the police, the victim was taken to the nearest medical care centre, where he was certified dead on arrival.

“Police have opened a case of murder and car hijacking for investigation, and no arrests have been made yet. Police are appealing to anyone who might have information that can help in the investigation or assist in the apprehension of the suspects to please call the nearest police station or call CrimeStop on 08600 10111,” he said.
The former SuperSport United defender joined Chiefs in October, and he had a two-year deal with an option to renew at the end of the contract.
