Judgment reserved in lockdown rules case
Judgment has been reserved in the lockdown regulations case brought by the Liberty Fighters Network against Cogta Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma. They opposed an application for leave to appeal by Dlamini-Zuma. The organisation is claiming that lockdown regulations are no longer legally valid.
Earlier this month, the High Court in Pretoria ruled aspects of the lockdown as unconstitutional and invalid. However, the ruling was suspended for 14 days to allow the minister to review, amend and republish the regulations.
Reyno de Beer, president of the Liberty Fighters Network, said the organisation is confident the courts will uphold the decision that the regulations were unconstitutional.
